Whoever is going to set up CCTV trained at a property which is not household is going to have to be very careful he or she is acting legally. There are very strict legal parameters for surveillance. If the purposes of the CCTV fall under the Data Protection Act, which is highly possible given that the majority of tram shelter users will be perfectly legitimate and just going about their business, the owner needs to ensure he doesn't fall foul of the law. Signs need to be set up and there are rules about retention of footage.

No matter how well intentioned, I just hope whoever it is does his homework first. Even if he catches evidence of a crime in progress, unless the DPA instructions are followed exactly, the evidence could be thrown out of court which would be a huge waste of time and everyone's money.

EDIT - (Oh, you've already covered all this earlier in the thread. That'll teach me not to read the whole of it first.)
