The A2 is shut by the police coastbound from the Sandwich road A256 junction near B&Q. Full of lorries.
Traffic is backing up Green Lane towards Melbourne again (yesterday too). I thought that the work on Barton Road had finished?

For many of the foreign trucks cheap parking is just not good enough.it has to be free as there companys will not pay for parking.they supply the driver with a sleeper cab and that is that. They wont pay for any extras and the drivers will not pay out of their wages to park.

Trucks were lined up going nowhere on the A20 near the Court Wood interchange earlier.

A2 currently blocked at least up to Whitfield, I pity the cars stuck between the lorries there. No TAP on the A2.
Plus backed up the town again.

What happened to the plan to use Manston?
Have those in charge given up on that silly idea?

Manston is only intended for use to prevent the M20 backing up to Maidstone - ie once stack is backed up to Junction 9, Dover bound freight is redirected via jct 7 to Manston. It was never intended to help Dover.

Thanks Neil my mistake, I thought it was designed to help any backlog involving the ferries and port.

Honest mistake Jan, one that many will have made,,, a cynic might conclude that the Manston plan was designed specifically to keep the wealthiest residents of Kent's driveways free by dumping the problem on the doorsteps of the less well heeled residents of East Kent, can't have Mr Carter trapped on his own driveway now can we, how on earth would Kent function without him?

You are such a cynic Neil, where would be the best site in your opinion?

Just as cynical as you Neil, I'm sure the problems on the A20 are because the powers that be don't want to have Stack implemented daily again as that would get national publicity.
(maybe I'm extra grumpy as it's taken me 30 min to do the 3 min trip from Coldred to Lydden thanks to the overnight closures of the A2, when the BBC Travel website says there are no roadworks in the area.)

Sadly Ray neither DDC or KCC are interested in our local problems. Revenue is being lost because lorries are using the A2. People going to and fro work trying to get to the Doctors etc should not be stuck in traffic jams .Buses are all over the place. Whitfield and Whitfield Hill night mare .Perhaps Ray Cllr Collor will listen to you.
