Pensioners are taxed at a staggering £ 42,000,000,000,billion.
Figures out today show pensioners lose one third of their income in income, vat, fuel
and road tax.
The poorest are hit even harder by losing one half of their income.
After a life time of paying tax on their earnings the most vulnerable in our society are
not getting any tax breaks at the time in their life they need it most.
In the meantime the elite greedy pigs and the Tax Avoiders get all the tax breaks
going and more.
What a shambles...

Pensioners incomes are taxed only if they are over £10,500 over 65 and £10,660 if over 75, with their extra age allowance reduced gradually if they have taxable income over £25,400 to the same level as the rest of us (£8,105 this year). They also do not pay National Insurance either.
True some elderly people who do not know better are paying more tax than they need and this is where some tax avoidance advice comes in, something I am pleased to help pensioners with frequently.
Another rather sad post from Reg that simply does not stand up to detailed examination.

If you know any pensioners paying too much tax Keith then introduce them to me and I will be pleased to help them avoid as much of it as possible.

Well there is certainly nothing substantial or substantive that can support Reg's sad little post.

``The poorest are hit even harder by losing one half of their income.``
Reality time.....
These millions of pensioners could not afford to pay a fee and if they could your services
would not assist them.

Reg how little you really know.
I have many pensioners paying me a fee for such advice all the time. As I pointed out, something you ignored, they would have to have taxable income of more than £10,500 to have to pay tax and do not pay NI, so your whole argument in the original post is blown out of the water. If people are paying too much tax then put it down to the complex tax system that you support and it is that complex tax system that helps creates work for me. By the way, I am the one who wants a simpler tax system despite the fact that the current system helps generates some revenue for my business. Incidentally - in case someone misunderstands, my main line of business is investment for which a thorough knowledge of tax is important, I am not an accountant.

And you are very good at it Barry, as I've said on many occasions.
Jean and I are both pensioners and we pay Barry to look after our small sum(s) of money because it grows much more than the amount we pay.
What a lot of people look for nowadays, is value for money and the service that Barry provides, even for a small sum, is just that.

The thread of this post was a precis of a survey published by ``financial experts``and
reported in the financial media.........
For anyone to have the haughtiness to know anothers knowledge is typical of a ``self-
opinionated``person.
The survey indicated that all pensioners lose one third of their income to TAX and that
millions of pensioners lose one half their income to TAX.
Not knowing your `limitations` of knowledge it is your posts that indicate you assist
some pensioners who can afford your Fee but disregard the millions of pensioners that
cannot and seem not to care for the financially challenged millions who are having a
seriously hard time under this Government.
You appear to be in a bubble of comfortablly off persons like Roger who can afford
your Fee`s.and have scant concern for others less well off in society who are suffering
hardship under this Goverment.
Does Roger receive a discount for the `forelocking`advertising he does for you ?

Reginald Hansell. Pensioners have a tax allowance of £10500 and pay no NI that is a simple fact that even you cannot deny. That means they pay far less in tax and NI than those of us who work. I earn a living advising people of all ages and backgrounds few of whom are wealthy.
You, quite frankly, have no idea of the fees I charge or anything about me or my business, my clients or anything that I do.
I am the one who wants a simpler tax system, I am the one who wants lower taxes and I am the one who daily helps people mitigate their tax burden as part of the package of advice I provide.
All you do is reinterpret statistics that you clearly demonstrate you do not understand with convoluted twisting and turning to find different ways to point score against the government and, in doing so, end up facing in all different directions. I read the financial media every day, a great deal of it incidentally, it goes with my job so do stop trying to quote it to me out of any real context.
You spend considerable time on this forum throwing veiled as well as open insults at me and others who you disapprove of. That disapproval ranges from merely being 'a right winger' to someone else for being wealthy, to someone wanting to protect their own property from unnecessary tax payments. Or just people who disagree with you or defend those who you hate.
I am going to be personal to you now, seeing that you frequently hurl personal insults at me, to the degree that you never even have the common courtesy to address me by name. Your posts are without a doubt the most self-righteous and sanctimonious I have ever read. I was going to say more about that but I had better not and will leave it at that.

another thread that is sadly going downhill.
barry is right here that it is downright rude not to address someone by their name when attacking rather than making it vague.
