The sunsets along the North Kent coast are the most stunning I have seen locally. Turner was correct about the light In Margate. Something to do also with the sun setting over the pollution of London, to the West.

lovely photos heike, I can never get good sunset ones.
I remember reading turner's comments about the light in margate that Andrew refers to.

Some stunning pictures Heike.
Where I live I never see the sunrise or the sunset to many flaming houses in the way, the price I pay for not having to climb hills.

Some really good shots of Dover Sunsets on this thread. This is 'Sunset in Sussex', taken tonight with an Olympus compact camera

Venus and Jupiter are very close together low down in the sky to the west right now - pic taken a few minutes ago but they should be at the best between 10.30 and 11.00

I have just come in from looking at it through my daughter's telescope, the position for Venus was at about 2.00 o'clock. The moon over the harbour area was also very clear.
