    We shop at the local supermarket Tesco's and its the same as the other big ones. I always go along the lines of the Pringle price index as they are often sold for a pound yet you always see them offered for 2 for £3 or 3 for £3.50 so I don't buy them until a £1 or get the nicer unbranded ones :) But the moral is that you have to look at the actual price and not the ooh bargain when it is not and costing you more. Plus just costs you more and you buy more and therefore more ends up in the food bucket.
