RESIDENTS are invited to attend a public exhibition on Wednesday ahead of resurfacing on the A20 through Dover in September.

As exclusively revealed in the Express earlier this year, resurfacing will be carried out between the Eastern Docks and Western Heights roundabouts because contractors botched the £2.8 million job back in March 2008.

The meeting will be held at Dover Town Hall from 12.30pm, with project team members speaking between 2pm and 7pm.

Highways Agency asset manager Kevin Bown said: "Sections of the A20 will be resurfaced to provide drivers with safe and reliable journeys. These repairs follow the 2008 scheme.

"They have been carefully planned to minimise disturbance to local residents and business and will take place overnight, when traffic flows are at their lowest, to minimise disruption.

"Road users and local residents can find out more about the work and the potential impact at an exhibition taking place at Dover Town Hall on Wednesday 6 August. I would invite anyone living, working or travelling near the A20 this September to come and speak to us at the exhibition."

The resurfacing will start on September 1 and is due to be completed, weather permitting, on September 27.

It will be carried out overnight, between 8pm and 6am, in phases with clearly signed diversions in place.
