Temporary Overnight Closures - Castle Street and Woolcomber Street, Dover - from 2 July 2012

Evening closures of Castle Street and Woolcomber Street, Dover are planned to commence from Monday 2nd July 2012 for up to 5 nights, for carriageway resurfacing.
Closures will be between 7.00 pm and 1.00 am each night, with roads re-opened outside these hours.

The roads will be closed on alternate nights, as shown below.
A256 WOOLCOMBER STREET will be closed on Monday 2nd July
CASTLE STREET will be closed on Tuesday 3rd July
A256 WOOLCOMBER STREET will be closed on Wednesday 4th July
CASTLE STREET will be closed on Thursday 5th July
A256 WOOLCOMBER STREET may need to be closed on Friday 6th July, if any outstanding works still to be done.

The alternative route for the Castle Street closure is via A256 Woolcomber Street, A20 Townwall Street and York Street.

The alternative route for the Woolcomber Street closure is via A258 Castle Hill Road, A2 Jubilee Way and A20 Townwall Street.
There will be some limited managed access for residents and businesses, when planing and surfacing machinery are not use.

There are likely to be some delays, especially as, once the road has been resurfaced, there is a period of about 2 hours before the surface can be driven on.

These closures are to enable Kent County Council to plane off the existing road surface and replacing it with a new surface.
The works are very weather dependent, and heavy rain may prevent them going ahead on the planned dates.
Should this be the case, revised dates will be advised locally and signposted on site.

    Roger
