Seems to have gone downhill lately with late deliveries and wrong post delivered.
Today I recieved what appears to be a Christmas card addressed thus:-
32 Blagreaves Road,
Little Over,
Derbys
The lack of postcode and deliberate hand writing style suggests that someone very elderly sent it.

That is how it comes across Brian, I just used their own post code finder and it came up straight away, don't see why they couldn't do it. If I had a few items delivered today I could understand this slipping through but it was delivered on its own.
Just seen your post Brian, unfortunately the card is addressed to a couple not a business.

Oops! I put up the business address and realised I'd only copied and pasted one address.........so I deleted the post and then reposted both together.

Mis-sorts are nothing new and certainly nothing to do with privatisation. I did temporary Christmas sorting for the old GPO nearly 50 years ago and we used to get plenty in those days (and no postcodes to help sort them out)! The best, I think, though not strictly a mis-sort, was a small card going from one part of Italy to another which had slipped into the back of the unsealed envelope of a much bigger card. It amazes me how many people still send unsealed cards even though the cheap concession disappeared decades ago. Old habits die hard.

Well I have found the post to be good ,I agree we need a bigger post office in the town why they closed the one we had I do not know, and with the banks pulling out of the high st we will need to use the P.O.more.

I think one of the reasons emails have become so popular is you know they will arrive and you have proof you have sent it, therefore the old excuse of lost in the post no longer applies, another plus it is much faster and most definitely cheaper.
I never phone a company with a question I always email them that way we both have a copy of what is said.

Many areas have 'Community Post Offices' now Vic which are based in existing local outlets and have extended hours and even trade on a Sunday! They offer reduced facilities, but for those that use computers the online access to many services are now readily available. I know that this is not an ideal situation for non computer users but we live in a different world nowadays!
As for the banks moving out of the High Streets this is mainly due to the popularity of Internet banking via Computers and Tablets. I, like many others, have been using online banking for a number of years now and recently my bank asked me to trial paying in cheques via photo/scan, so it seems that it's not going to go away soon.

Jan is right about e mails I much prefer to do business that way, especially with utility companies, incidentally the post office inside W.H.Smiths Folkestone is open on a Sunday.

I love internet banking, using it pay any bill not covered by direct debit or want transfer money to a family member. The main advantage is I would know if my account was compromised in some way as I check it every day.
I have not had to write a cheque since this time last year.

Eythorne PO open 7 days a week and the PO counter is open for all services whenever the shop is open. But of course nowadays the Post Office and the Royal Mail are totally separate entities.

Descending into farce now, as you can see I have made the necessary alterations so it can reach the correct destination.
Came back through my letter box this morning.
