That is what the press dubbed today, I was in Folkestone earlier took one look in Asda and came away immediately. To make matters worse the Salvation Army band was playing in their usual mournful style outside, they never seem as if they are enjoying playing.

We tend not to buy too much food as the shops are open boxing day and the day after they,re pretty much back to normal. I went into town this morning to get a few presents and was surprised to find that it wasnt very busy at all. There was no waiting in Argos,i was in and out within minutes.

This morning there was a young boy singing and playing his guitar opposite the Eight Bells. He was very quiet.

Canterbury was busy but no more than a normal Saturday - except for the queues in the card shops! As usual, the place seemed full of French visitors.

When I used to go across to Calais regularly there were always billboards from Sea France extolling the virtues of Canterbury stressing that the shops are open on Sundays there.
