Our MP has had pressure put on him and been asked what he is doing about it, he has not bothered to reply.
Ray, the link was already on here, the A20 thread.

I would recommend everybody to sign the E-petition.
There will always be times when bad weather, untoward incidents occur causing traffic difficulties.
What is not acceptable in these circumstances is the operational delays in putting Operation Stack & filtering systems into place.
You can be absolutely sure that action will be taken as it starts to affect the rest of Kent ,North of Ashford.
The use of the A2 in its present form does not represent a viable alternative in both capacity & traffic direction indicators from the Dartford Bridge.
Regrettably until DfT prioritise the A2 upgrades & Police & Highway services enact early implementation of Operation Stack & its management we will go nowhere fast.
The Port of Dover & EuroTunnel are the economic lifeline for UK PLC, that alone warrants speedy action, let alone the effects on us the local community who travel near or by these roads to live & work.
On all fronts, operational changes & positive Government decisions with delivery are the only acceptable solutions.

I've signed the petition but in all fairness this has been going on for years and nothing has been achieved to date a few thousand sigbatures are unlikely to change anything, surely KCC, DDC, DTC and DHB should have taken the reigns on this long ago; alas no! its Dover citizen population getting the proverbial s****y end of the stick again.

Paul,
I agree Operation Stack should be enforced a lot earlier, also better traffic management to stop the lorries clogging up roundabouts and road junctions during every day use.
Reginald,
Part of the problem is that those big-wigs with the clout at KCC, DDC and DHB do not live anywhere near the areas affected by this ongoing traffic chaos, I have not included DTC as they seem to be completely useless regarding anything to do with the town.

Double the Port of Dover police and I am sure they could keep the roundabouts and access to Aycliffe clear, too few of them spread too thinly.

Signed the petition yesterday.Paul is correct it effects a lot of people. Both my sons have to travel to Dartford everyday sometimes travelling further .My elder son had to drive to Barnsley last week. The last thing they need is a problem getting home.It does effect us all the bus service has problems as the lorries jam the roundabouts
Ray Nigel is the chairman of JTB.
I'm always telling people at KCC the county does not stop at Ashford.

It wouldn't need to be port police there are plenty of security staff on zero hour contracts at DHB, they only have to act as traffic marshals and could call on the police if needed, but they would have to pay them so I suppose they wouldn't bother.

I think the above comment would be justified of certain organisations some not identified in your list.
The problem to be overcome is how to accelerate the road schemes to become a priority.
The A2 scheme is currently included with Third Thames Crossing project. Decision awaited. The lorry park solution off Jct. 11 M2O is a strategic priority scheme for 2015/2017 funding.
Both have been submitted as a priority by the SE Local Enterprise Partnership, the latest Government vehicle for project prioritisation endorsements.
The operational management is Police led & they consistently claim they can't spare the manpower for traffic management & Police Kent adequately.
Basically if the Police won't implement Stack early & hold back the freight, Dover suffers
They are warned early enough of situations arising.

the problem being they have no powers to direct traffic on public roads.

True but anyone with a high-vis can help and there are only four main junctions/roundabouts to keep dover moving if stack is correctly implemented.

I like Damian Collins solution to funding. Specifically use the Foreign freight vehicle levy to resolve Stack & road issues.

anyone with a high vis
if only. If only enough was released from stack that could get into the Port it would be a real help to Dover.

That's what I said Martin and with people at each junction/roundabout to prevent them being blocked and feed back to stack control. At the end of the day its Dover being let down by the people who DO have the authority to prevent it but won't.
Maybe it's time for Dover to blockade the port and watch how long before things start happening. Probably get sued by the French though!

There is a huge amount of ex-railway land in the Western Docks alongside Shakespeare Beach that is unused. I've never understood why it isn't used in some way for lorry parking.
