a few changes in april on bus services run with help from kcc.
2 locally, firstly the 593 that runs from deal then goes through rural parts before it arrives in dover then finishes at the western heights. up until november it was run by eastonways then after they folded by stagecoach. this will change to regent coaches in april. secondly the 68 that runs between temple ewell and maxton will revert back to stagecoach after 4 years with regent coaches.

Shouldn't the RSPCA be looking after domestic animals, not spending all their donation funds from the public on court cases ?

agree roger, they would be better off making more programmes with rolf harris at the animal hospital.
good viewing with the bonus of us knowing exactly where he is and what he's doing at any given time.

Does this mean that the Clarendons will lose the service, people are getting worried that this will happen, when Stagecoach lost the tender four years ago, they did not have the coaches to run up the Clarendons, they were to long, has smaller coaches been purchased, if not what has changed, has the long coaches become elasticated and bendable, or does it mean the end for this run, questions need to be asked, we do not want to lose this service, to many elderly people rely on it

I hope not Sheila - I have emailed Nigel to ask if he has any information on this.

i was very surprised that stagecoach wanted this service back, the route was amended slightly when regent took over as like stagecoach their buses couldn't take the bend in clarendon road.
they would use the ones that do the town centre runs on the 68 route.

I hope not as well Roger, this service is a lifeline to the elderly, also young mothers, I've tried to get onto the KCC website to comment, but you can never find your way round the site, I think they designed it hoping that you would give up looking, so that they do not have to deal with your problems. If the service is left to Stagecoach, I think we can safely say goodbye to the bus, Stagecoach were always trying to get rid, I haven't seen any smaller coaches either and the ones they have are far to long

stagecoach would not have tendered for it if they did not want it, besides many of the buses they use around town are smaller than the ones used by regent.
the kcc website is very complicated, i tried to report an out of order street light - gave up in the end.

Let me know the location of the street-light and the number of the column Howard and I'll report it for you.

thanks roger, it got fixed eventually after about 6 months.
funnily enough when i have e mailed kcc transport bods in the past they have been excellent, responding quickly and giving full information about their efforts to keep the 68 running.

Just had this reply back from Nigel.
"Dear Nigel.
David has asked me to advise you of changes to route 68 from this April. Contracts have now been awarded and I can confirm that the 68 will be changing operator to Stagecoach, and will operate like for like except for a small diversion between Dover Town Centre and Temple Ewell, where instead of running via Pilgrims Way it will continue via the London Road. Clarendon will receive the same level of service as before but we may need to revisit point to point timings.
Hope this provides you with the information you need."

I think that meant what Regent provided, so will Stagecoach.
I thought the Regent service was O.K. Howard. Is it not ?

Just received this:
"The plan is to have a seamless transfer from one operator to the other, with Stagecoach starting from Monday 7th April 2014."

nothing wrong with regent roger, the problems are malvern road and clarendon place - many times they can't get through.
the last journey of the day misses out mount road in maxton as people have got home from work and parked on corners so that the bus cannot get through.

I thought they (KCC) put double yellow lines there because there were problems with the dust carts getting round - I'll check that out tomorrow.

Regent coaches always made sure that the people from Clarendon Place got to the top of the hill even if they could not get the bus round the corner, very often the bus has dropped people at the top of Malvern Road, reversed back and come up Belgrave to the top to get people that end up the hill, can't see Stagecoach doing that
