Just signed up to this will have to wait and see how effective it is.

It doesn't work Howard. I get calls from UK companies who say that because they aren't making a sales call TPS doesn't apply. They are just doing a "survey".
The joke is that on Monday a solar panel firm called, when I asked where they got my name and number from they told me it was from a database bought from BT!

I had a phone call the other day not from T.P.S but another firm who told me that I was getting a lot of nuisance phone call & they could stop this but paying them £1 -58 a week & it would stop them & the firms could be taken to court & fined. I am sure that would not stop them,
I said that they were a nuisance phone call ,they said that they were not as they providing a service. I said no thank you & put the phone down.

I put them on speaker phone and let them talk to my cockatiels. I find it quite effective, they hardly ever ring back again!

A good idea Jeane. Father used to say he will fetch someone to talk about it, and just lay the phone down indefinitely.
Another idea is to say "This call is being recorded"

No doubt the nuisance callers will find a way around the new rules.

We,ve tried all different ways but they still call, quite often we dont even bother answering our phone as most family and friends ring us on the mobiles,in fact these nuisance calls are becoming such a pain that we have even considered giving up our landline number,we get such a good deal on our mobiles that theres little point of keeping it.

I only keep my landline for the internet, most of the time I don't even bother answering my landline if I don't recognise the number on caller display.

Some times I am just plain rude to who ever is on the phone, other times I tell them some one is at the door and can they give me a minute then put the phone down and go back 5 to 10 minutes later to see if they are still there, funny they never are.
Howard I am signed up to that tpsonline some years back and it does not work, you still get the calls.
PPI and calls telling me I have had an accident, that when I tell them that I haven't but they might if I find out who they are.

I get loads of nuisance calls both on my landline and my mobile. If I don't know the number calling I don't answer - if it's important they will leave a message. If I do mistakenly answer I pretend I am very thick and keep asking what they mean lol They soon get fed up with me and ring off.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

I'm frankly amazed that people give any information about themselves to a cold caller but one bloke seems to have got rich on it.
