I hope I am wrong but I doubt the Chairman who lives in Ash will have much interest in what happens in poor old Dover.

Both are mainly ceremonial roles Jan, but I often see Sue Chandler In Dover. The Leader is still Paul W, he lives in Deal and represents St Margaret's but that hasn't stopped him being fully involved in Dover.

The Chairman of the District is involved in all the Parishes 32 I managed to visit 25 and all three Towns .I made sure I was seen in all the District. It is not a Poltical position.I kept the Leader in touch with many areas of concern .Amazing what you learn even travelling on a bus.I had a very busy Four years.Your local Councillors deal with your day to day problems.
I think the telling is in the name a District Chairman.

Why is the leader still Paul Watkins? Would be good to get a new direction especially as so many parts of the district feel completely disengaged from DDC.

Yes he is the best man for the job.,and his deputy is good also.I know the hours Paul puts in competely dedicated. The people elect the Councillors and once again its a Conservative administration. From within the Conservative group a Leader is chosen. This year we had serveral new Councillors..They have to gain experience before they can climb the ladder as it were.

Thanet councillors are having to race up that ladder!
Who is the deputy Sue, DDC website hasn't been updated yet and still has Sue Chandler as Deputy Leader as well as Chairman.

So the leadership of DDC hasn't changed for over 12 years which is probably why the regeneration of Dover is about 12 years behind the rest of Kent. Many people in Deal, Sandwich and Whitfield are keen to get rid of DDC and I can see that feeling increasing without fresh new management and direction.

What negative postings. The electorate have returned a Conservative administration for the past twelve years. The leader came very close to collecting an award as outstanding Leader of the year with candidates entered from all over the country .Some of our services are rated the best in Kent .We have the the third lowest precept in Kent .
Its not DDC ,s fault that CPO,s took so long .
Those of you who post on here bar Ray I have never seen at a Councl meeting. Did you stand for election no ,easy to use a key board and make remarks about some one who has given over thirty years to local government .
What was the comment about World War 2 meant to be .
I f you can do better get elected see how hard it is to achieve .
