I think there is a real danger of a having a second hospital type fiasco if we are not careful.
whilst its fantastic a residents group should be set up and even fight there corner, and paul scotchie just because he has done a lot of great work with his group of volunteers shouldn't feel he is the only group in the future that could do good work on the heights.
What i fear is as we have 2 or 3 posters clearly opposing any build on the heights that maybe the area will get bogged down with inter group arguments (like the hospital fiasco) and the only losers will be the western heights.
could i make one point clear to lorraine, at no point have i said i agree with you, i have noticed twice you have incorrectly quoted me, what i have said all allong
is that all parties with an interest iun the heights should put there ego's away
and work togther for a solution, it probably wont ever get everyone's agreement
nut maybe thats progress?

Hello Brian. There is so much unknown history and connections between members of this forum it is often hard to tell if posts are negative, positive, ironic, stroppy, funny, tongue in cheek etc etc. No wonder it is so intriguing the public.
I think its time to start another thread to discuss this thread! Noooooooooo

"Salo arrived on Tralfamador in his repaired flying saucer on a Tuesday, which did not make favour with him, as Wednesday was his favourite day, but he couldn't remember why. He touched down on the dock with a thump. The warning lights flashed on and off again. Salo looked at the door of the saucer, clenched his eyes shut, concentrated and the door slid open with a "juush" sound. Salo opened his eyes and shut them again immediately.
The suns were shining strong. It was the season of Blimskip, and the power globes had been warmed. Salo remembered why he didn't like being on Tralfamador on Tuesdays: Blimskip happened only on a Tuesday and Tuesdays came round way too often for him, every 537,944 earth years...."
Discuss.

I'm not in favour of DHB privatisation, Paul, but against it.
Keith will have to wait like the rest of us till decisions are made.

Still if it is such a viable idea then it should be shared. - a campaign supported and backed up by many people is a lot better than a lone view from someone who gives the impression of someone unwilling to work with others.
Been nice knowing you :)

Paul, the Decision Minister will be aware that the Western Heights SAM is object of discussion among local people and councillors with regards to needed funding for regeneration.
This, together with some other examples given for needed local funding, may require her to decide whether the criteria is met in the DHB submission for community involvement in regeneration.
My view is that this criteria is not met.
Quite clearly we need more substantial funding for local regeneration. So let us assume the Decision Minister looks into this and asks questions to local authorities about the examples I have given, and looks into Dover's requirements in general.
If this comes about, then perhaps local groups such as WHPS will have the chance to come forward and put their case over to her. It may all help to make an informed decision on future funding for local regeneration.
So I considered this to be the best occasion to put forward our case for Dover's future, which is why I remained part of the public consultation.

Be warned folks, if the decision goes against DHB then Alexander is probably going to claim credit

Presumably Alexander means the Minister who will make the decision - I understand it to be Theresa Villiers but no doubt the Secretary of State will be involved

The decision whether to allow DHB privatisation proposals to proceed or not has been delegated by the Secfretary of State for Transport to Theresa Villers, Minister of State. As this decision is being treated as a quasi-judicial decision and the Secretary of State has delegated it to Theresa Villiers, the Secretary of State is not allowed to influence the decision. Theresa Villiers is therefore the 'decision Minister' in this particular case, just as Jeremy Hunt became the 'decision Minister' over BSkyB.
The decision will be over whether the DHB proposals fulfill the criteria set out by the Government, in particular whether or not the DHB proposals create an enduring and significant influence for the community over the future direction and development of the port and a benefit from increases in profitability, revenue and value of the port.
