    Early years advisers-The Proposal.

Reduce the number of early years advisers.

advisors regularly vist the nurseries and provide advice, support and guidance in areas such as curriculum planning, opservation and assessment and Special Educational Needs.

KCC spends over £8 million to support over 2,600 chidcare providers and childminders, over 740 providers of private/voluntary sector nursery providers and 414 primary/infant schools running nursery/reception classes. The save for the proposal would be £2million.

    For The Proposal.

(10Some feel that there should be less intervention/regulation from Councils and that providers should be left to"get on" with running a service.

{2} Could parents regulate these providers not public officials? Do they alraedy do this in deciding where to send their child for provision.

    Now Against the proposal.

    (1) Early education is an essential part of a childs development. Nursery places and childcare should be regulated to ensure the best service possible.

    (2) The availability of a quality nursery/childcare place has enabled many parents to return to work knowing their child will be well cared for.

    (3) Some feel it is better value to have an early intervention from qualified professionals when children are young rather than cost of other childrens services in the long run.
