The most notable one is that Canterbury will be served every hour during the day on Sundays from the 26th April.

Just noticed the bit about the 68 continuing along Clarendon Place unless there were badly parked cars, different to what we were told before.

I understood that the route would now be going up Belgrave.
I'll email KCC and Stagecoach to determine what is really happening.

Thanks Roger that's what we all thought, could be a lively meeting on Thursday!!
Going off at a tangent Stagecoach do a good job overall improving services on many routes. Having said that when they make big changes they give little notice and then only on their website. I only found the link by chance when looking for a specific timetable. All these changes come into place this coming Sunday and people will go to their bus stop not knowing about the timetable changes on the popular 101/102 route as they haven't been announced.

I've now sent an email asking for clarification, hopefully they may reply by Thursday.

Thanks Sue.
Sometimes the services are not always an improvement - to the users that is.
If you still have the paper Sue, does it mention the 68 service and whether it will go up Clarendon Place or Belgrave ?

Bad parking in Malvern Road meant that the bus went straight along the Folkestone Rd for the first 4 journeys, they changed drivers at 2 PM and the new one diverted down Clarendon Street.

Notification of the changes has been on the Stagecoach website for a week and links to the new timetables were placed on there yesterday. River loses on a Sunday by having a 15B every 2 hours instead of a 60 hourly - and St Rads and River thus lose their Sunday links to Tesco and B&Q - not that many people used them, hence the cut. Users of 12 from Whitfield to Canterbury or Deal will find most times have changed - some by nearly half an hour.

Same problem today with the bus, cannot get into Clarendon Place let alone along it. Have e mailed Cllr Gordon Cowan about the long term plan for the route.

They needed not jave bothered with this as the bus times Dover/New Romney/Dover seem to be totally unchanged. Further along there have been alterations.

The driver for the first half of the day put himself out and diverted via Clarendon St which is wider anyway despite what KCC say.

Blimey there's enough room to get a bus through!

Stagecoach nationally have ordered some narrow Solos - I wonder if one will make its way to Dover? Don't hold out too many hopes, though!
The 100 group changes mean 2 buses an hour through to Hastings on weekdays, one taking an interesting route west of Rye.

Had a reply from Gordon and to put it in a nutshell Stagecoach are being difficult, Considering they tendered for the route a year ago knowing the problems.
It was decided that a banksman was needed until the double yellow lines were painted, estimated cost £6000. Steve Benjamin said that KCC would pay half and Gordon would use his members grant for the other half. Stagecoach then said they didn't have anyone available to do it. DDC then done a risk assessment and decided that a banksman was not needed anyway.
Should be a lively meeting tomorrow.

So reading between the lines Stagecoach only really want to go along Folkestone Road and not serve those who live up the Clarendon area.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Sounds about right Jan, before the meeting I don't think KCC and Stagecoach were really interested and were looking for a quiet life. After the meeting KCC took in the strength of public opinion and have acted accordingly while Stagecoach seemed like they had too. Gordon will be chairing the meeting tomorrow and will state in his opening speech what I have posted here with a bit more thrown in. the Stagecoach rep will be in a very tight corner.

Another crowded meeting and basically Gordon got us a result. As per the Stagecoach website the bus will continue to service Clarendon Place when it can get through until yellow lines are painted in Westbury Crescent. The stop outside my house will be replaced with one much higher which is logical.
There will be a 3 month trial using Belgrave Rd and I don't anticipate any problems there but another meeting will be held after the 3 months are up. The vast majority in the hall were very happy with the situation unfortunately some people can never be satisfied. Residents of Clarendon St were unhappy about losing stop outside mine and having to walk up to the new one although why anyone would walk uphill to catch a bus downhill escapes me.

Howard, I might be able to explain that one, with my ankle I get less pain walking up a slope and more pain when walking down one.
