    The problem is that they dont know or care whos trade or non trade.The rules are that if you go to the tip in even the smallest of vans then they will treat you as trade waste and charge you.I will give you an example. Very recently a relative of mine brought some new furniture and decided to tip the old stuff.He went to the Dover tip in a small Citroen Berlingo van with the old furniture broken up to tip.He even showed the lady on the weighbridge the receipts for his new furniture and asked if he could dump like for like,the old stuff.She said he could but would have have to pay.He rightly refused and drove away.We loaded the stuff into a borrowed Mercedes estate,this car is bigger and probably has a bigger load carrying capacity than the van.We went to the tip and unloaded with no probs and nothing to pay.
