Must say I have found mates now that I was thinking I would never hear from again some even on the other side of the world now.
Going back to the 1950s it was hard to find a family with a TV or phone but now all have both and you can talk to any one ,any where round the world for just a few pence.I am playing chess 24/7 with players also from all over the world .As a older person now all this is great to have in our own front room.In 50 years time I wonder what will be about then.
Because of my legs I find it very hard to sleep or stay in bed now, and I know I can just sit here and know some one out there is tuning in or I can go into face book and talk to mates or family who are in other parts of the world.

Tell me he's going Brian - with a one way ticket
Erm- Mr Matcham - you opened a Facebook account in February 2011! (see #1 post)
And please ...... if you must write your life story please do it on facebook so we don't have to put up with it. Blimey if we all started writing our life stories on the forum there would be no room for interesting comments.

I have very few Facebook friends mainly my family. I initially joined 5 years ago so I could see the many pictures of my new great-grandaughter that were so easily accessible via her parents pages.

Perhaps we should take you up on your brilliant suggestion Jacqui!

Me too Jan and for the same reasons as you. My first great-granddaughter is due on Jan 8th so that's to look forward to as well as the grandchildren I already have.

Congratulations I hope all goes well and he/she is not late. The word great in front of grandaughter makes me realise I am now ancient.
I wish our families would be more considerate when having children so near Christmas, I have one next week and two in January so have to really rack my brain to give them anything other than vouchers.

Thank you Jan. She is having a little girl and calling her Elsie Grace which I think is a sweet old fashioned name.
Know what you mean about the "great" bit
Something else we have in common, I have one in 3 weeks time and will have 2 in January when Elsie is born!

Its nice to have grandchildren and great grand children ,I am a grand-dad to 12 ageing from 8 to 24 and a great grand-dad to one boy ,this is true I can-not remember all their names so they have a number each from 1 to 13. I find it easy now.
Also true I did log into face book years ago but never used it but now all the family and my mates have asked me to start using it,I have and finding it great fun they have even put a film on there showing the time we were working on a bridge in London and they were trying to set fire to me when I was drilling,I did not know at the time that they had filmed it.
And I have a grand-daughter going round India with her other half and they are sending back films of what and where they are.

I have an account I opened about 15 yrs ago when I was teaching, I only used it for the students to have an initial contact when they opened an account.
I still get constant emails asking if I know so & so, or so & so wants to be friends, I wouldn't even know how to start using it, that's one of the joys of having lots of youngsters around, they can show us ageing relics how it all works.
