Starts at 7 PM people are advised to get there and hour before, best viewing points, The Strand Walmer and outside the Port Arms.

Why can Deal do all this and Dover can't? We have visitors from all over the world coming through our port and cruise ships this time of year.

What Deal do is truly amazing and probably helped by the fact it has nothing to do with DDC. This is a nice film on you tube

Jack, you obviously have no idea of the work that DDC put into event planning for something like this! I'm happy to criticise them where it's due but major events wouldn't take place without DDC input and advice. Unfortunately voices like yours and Brian's are often the loudest while people who make things happen just get on with it.

I was about to post something along the same lines, in my view events are best run by experienced organisers with a band of enthusiastic volunteers.
Local councils can facilitate with their knowledge of the legals, health and safety. public liability insurance etc and generally help to smooth things along.
We get some great events in Dover, this year one of the best if not the best in my memory - never a weekend without something going on.

Ray, you are joking surely? The regatta week in Deal is organised, planned, payed for, volunteered by and promoted by the community in Deal - that is why it is such a huge success. I believe KCC and Kent Police advise on the event but seriously what do DDC do??

ray,yes I did go to the 2 you mentiond.
but my point was/is l would like to see the carnival and regatta on the same time..carnival saterday evening.
it would be nice to have some coordination on all events in and around dover.
just to add I would like to see the regatta become a 2 day event again.

I think they done that one year Brian but i understand that the carnival is forced into the Sunday evening spot, more's the pity.

However well run and good an event is in Dover there will always be those who complain and want more and better.
I think it is nice to have lots of events rather than one long bash leaving the rest of the summer weekends empty.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Totally agree Jan, read on social media about how the excellent carnival in Deal was dissed by so many.
We are lucky to have so many summer events in Dover, Deal and Folkestone, best to spread them if at all possible.
