Our Charlie has raised the issue in the Commons with a view to bringing a law in to identify culprits who post abusive stuff under a pseudonym. He specifically refers to Twitter, I am not on there but judging what I read in the papers the problem is severe. Some of the stuff I have read on Facebook in recent times has been stomach churning but as far as I know most post under their real name. The internet is a wonderful invention but people who misuse it need to be made responsible for their actions.

Something certainly needs doing, threats to rape or kill someone are awful.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I am sure he is genuine Brian, the guilty need to be flushed out so that the majority are not intimidated.

I am not sure about the logistics but in my view there must be parameters set that people produce evidence of their identity before being able to post.
Would be interested to hear how this can be achieved.

I have to agree with Katie Hopkins on this one. If you don't like comments on Twitter or Facebook then stop using them. Charlie has no problem with Twitter when he is mocking others who don't agree with him. Let the police get on with investigating real crimes that cause real problems for people.

I for one think that people who post unkind and sometimes untruthful comments on face book should be stopped.it causes untold stress to families.I never understand why people make comments when they have never met the person. If you have to say something be positive. I find this forum gives out good information .

Charlie's words in the Commons.
Charlie Elphicke: I wish to raise the matter of cyber-bullying and the
abuse of online anonymity. I know that there are hon. Members for whom
this is of deep concern, so I am happy to take interventions, and, if
there is time, for colleagues to make short speeches, if that would be
in order, Madam Deputy Speaker. Hate-tweeting trolls make people's lives
hell. They have got out of hand on social media,...
