I would have thought the change of job title from assistant manager to assistant steward would have covered that Martin.

How can anyone survive on that sort of money in Germany Heike?
They definitely need the introduction of the minimum wage.

P & O mooring staff are facing a £10,000 a year, reduction in wages.

I note that these proposals are mooted at the end of high season unsurprisingly as the figures being put out will seriously damage morale amongst on board and shore staff who will pay mortgage/rent based on what they earn. There is always a risk of jobs being lost in any industry but I have not come across wage cuts of this magnitude before.

Martin P this I can only say you are too right on this one. UK can be glad that minimum wage is what you have in Egland. Otherwise it would be even worse. I have seen this, experienced it ( left at right time) on a slight different scale to what is happening in the UK.
Its very sad to see this happening again.... Companies only do it to survive and keep as many employees they can..
Well just hope things turn around again at some point..
