    Christmas cheer.

Returning to where once she had pride of place,
For many Christmas's past a joy she had been,
Now wearing tatty old clothes, an aged weary face,
No family to love her, not part of the scene.

A group of young children saw her lying there,
But passed by with scarcely a glance,
Excited to see Santa and the elves in his lair,
And some Christmas Day presents perchance.

Looking sad, not moving, stiff and so old,
Her attraction waining, she was showing her age,
When they turned out the lights it was so cold,
It could be her last day here, her life's final page.

Later that evening the stars shone so bright,
"She's still lying there," a young girl's voice said,
"We can't leave her alone on this cold Christmas night,
Let's take her back home to a warm place instead."

They took her back to their house, safe at last,
Leaving behind the darkness they found so scary,
Age should not be a burden, it's only time passed,
Regardless of this, Christmas is a time to be merry.

They gave her new clothes and much TLC.,
Then tired, but happy, they sang carols about Mary,
Next morning she looked down from the top of the tree,
Resplendent once more as the Christmas tree fairy!!
