Ancient woodlands have many hidden secrets about their past which can be unlocked by a well trained eye. We are lucky enough to have secured the services of Dr Nicola Bannister, a leader in this field, to guide us through the basics of woodland archaeology. So join us if you would like to be able to interpret the banks, ditches and other features in a woodland that can reveal so much about its past. We will spend the morning learning about some of the theory and will follow this by a site visit to Long Wood and Square Wood that have recently been purchased by Kent Wildlife Trust to examine some of the features present here that give a glimpse into the history of the woodlands.

A £10 returnable deposit is required to secure your place on this course made payable by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Dover District Council and will only be cashed if participants do not attend the course. If you have no cheque book please contact Up on the Downs to make alternative arrangements.
