Come and join the fun at the Port of Dover's first Easter Mile Race along our award-winning seafront on Tuesday, March 29. The event, which will start at 4pm, is open to all children from the ages of three to 14.

Following the success of last year's Hallowe'en children's race, the Port is inviting all budding athletes, keen fun runners and even toddlers to take part in the event - all sporting colourful Easter bonnets as they run a mile along the seafront.

There will be trophies for the winning girl and boy in each category, and medals for all runners, plus prizes for the best Easter bonnets. So get creative, put on your running shoes and join the party.

All money raised, through the purchase of refreshments, will go to this year's Port of Dover Community Regatta charity, Dover Sea Cadets.

Tim Waggott, the Port of Dover's chief executive, said: "Our children's races have proved so popular with youngsters and their parents, we decided to extend our racing calendar with the addition of the Easter event.

"We want to see as many runners as possible wearing Easter bonnets along the seafront. We'll be handing out awards for the fastest competitors as well as those with the best costumes."

The run will be separated into two heats - one for three to eight-year-olds (and their parents) and one for nine to 14-year-olds - with space for 40 competitors in each.

In addition to the winners' prizes - sponsored by Dover Western Docks Revival contractors GRAHAM - every runner who finishes will get a medal and goody bag. The after-race party will feature an Easter Egg hunt, and plenty to eat and drink.

To book your space, please email alyson.hudson@doverport.co.uk or call 01304240400.

The promenade and beach will remain open to the public for those who wish to watch the races, so come along and cheer them all on!
