The Front Page. - Copy 152 ( Prize Winning at Blakes of Castle St)

2 January 2011

And now for a bit of Froth and Frolics...

Blakes of Castle Street, that well known haven for forumites, held their annual Christmas Draw recently, and who should win a vast horde of goodies in that draw but none other than le grande fromage of Doverforum itself... Paul Boland, otherwise more commonly known by his monicker PaulB....yes indeed yours truly. As Ive been buying tickets in everything for years and winning absolute zippo, I now am beside myself with joy at this sudden change in fortune. This could bode well for the New Year to come...now perhaps is the time for me to buy Lottery Ticklets and who knows, this time next year I could be talking to you from the far off tropics, where the surf laps gently against one's toes and duskie maidens sashay softly every night to the strains of a quiet guitar! One could be on a roll here!

Okay...back to cold reality with a sigh.
The top shot shows PaulB centre collecting his prizes from the downstairs bar, and nice ones they were too. A Famous Grouse whiskey of particular vintage and strength, a box of luxurious chocolates, and a bottle of wine. Excellent.

In the top shot from left are the owners of Blakes Peter and Kathryn Garstin, Paul Boland of Doverforum, River Parish Cllr and local UKIP Chairman Vic Matcham peering over the top, and former Mayor of Dover Cllr Jan Tranter. This picture was taken by long lifer forumite Ian Lillford.

The picture left above shows two well known forumites relaxing with a pint... Cllr Roger Walkden left who has recently been appointed as a youth in business development manager and is seen here chatting with that man about town.. the ever effervescent Ian Lillford.

What can one say about the picture below. When politics collide?.. or when politics dont collide is probably the more apt term here. Well, when opposites in the political game meet over a few jars the landing gets very soft indeed. Here we have Conservative Cllr at KCC and DDC level Nigel Collor himself, fraternising with Labour's DDC and DTC cuddly councillor Jan Tranter. PB.
