  Last night I once again dined with Karen at The Marina Hotel and once again we were treated to an evening of fine dining with excellent service. I have yet to eat anywhere that compares with this experience, it's like being a judge on the finals of one of the Masterchef programmes, absolutely perfect.6 January 2013   15:34

  You Cheeky lot !! i open up in Snargate Street at 6 every morning our breakfasts include american pancakes with maple syrup bacon and scrambled egg, big muffins with bacon cheese topped with an egg served with real hash browns we do a mean veggy breakfast we have people come for miles to dine here ive never seen you in here!!23 May 2011   18:43

  The Restaurant is now under New Ownership with a New Name, now known as 'Arlington West Bistro' with an affordable new menu with new opening times.
  
  Opening times: 11.30 to 3pm, 6pm to 9.30pm Last Orders.

  We have just had dinner at The Allotment for the first time. What a fab place! The food was proper food that tasted of what it was, the music was at exactly the right pitch, the service was impeccable and charming. The amuse bouche beetroot salad was earthy and tasted of real beetroot - sounds funny, but beetroot is often over cooked or pickled and this was real beetroot. It was a delicious meal in really pleasant surroundings. We will be going again soon, and when we have guests it is the place we will take them. A truly enjoyable experience.4 March 2011   21:44

  Just one more: What is up with Cullens Yard? Lunch there yesterday was such a disappointment. The young waiters were charming but not very skilled, the maitresse d was charmless and socially inept and appeared reluctant to go the first mile never mind the extra mile. The panninis were rubbery and tasteless, the moules were great but served without bread, spoon or fingerbowl (which we had to catch the MDs eye for as no-one seemed to feel the need to ask if everything was good for us), the seabass was served without veg and was way too small a piece of fish and lacked any special flavour. We have tried it out now on different occasions, maybe 3 or 4 times to give it a chance, but we will not be going back ever - I was embarrassed for my guests.27 February 2011   20:16

  On a really positive note, one of the best breakfasts I have had in Dover I had at Jermaines. It had been recommended to me (as someone who cannot resist a decent brekkie!) but I had not previously had time to check it out.   Hi Guys
  
  It is good to see this on DF. We have eaten much good food in Dover and had some great service in the dozen years since we moved here. I have blogged recently about Amina's and about some restaurants, cafes, greasy spoons and B&Bs around Kent and Ireland.
  
  But if you want to wait 2 hours+ for a takeaway that has been promised within the hour the White Cliffs Tandoori is the one for you. We ordered before 7.30 this evening and called a couple of times after the promised delivery time to see if there was a hold up and eventually cancelled when we had waited 2+ hours. And the person we called to cancel had no apology but tried to blame the delivery person. Newsflash: if you are delivering a service and it goes wrong, it is down to you. Apologise, make it up to the customer, suck it up.
  
  A late dinner isn't a big deal or a deal breaker, but it is poor service. Make it better, guys. 26 February 2011   22:32

  It is good to see lots of information on where you can eat in Dover on this page...... BUT...... some of the places listed are no longer open, some are not restaurants at all and some have changed hands. Could this list be regularly checked so that it is up to date and maybe carry a link to a restaurant/cafe's website if appropriate? Just a suggestion

  Tez the County Hotel was already there included in our list, but have now added the name Christo's to it ...thanks for that info. County Hotel is under C rather than The. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope they do well over there, they've had a lot of uncertainty to contend with over the DTIZ development.

  Hi all,
  
  Just thought I'd post about our experience today at one of Dover's restaurants.
  
  For a change we decided to go out for Mothers Day and booked in for the Mothers Day menu at Christo's Restaurant in the County Hotel. We've never actually been there before as we've never been inspired by the outside of the hotel being that is hidden below Burlington House but once you've stepped inside you have entered a clean, well decorated and welcoming place. All the staff at the restaurant are welcoming and there for your every need. First of all we went in the bar for a drink and were welcomed by the barman who had an asortment of drinks for you to enjoy and then we enjoyed the ambience of the bar which was clean, welcoming and well decorated with pot plants and wood pannelling.
  Afterwards we were taken from the bar and into Christo's Restaurant where we were all made welcome. The waitresses were very quick are taking down our orders and also very nice to their customers. The room itself is huge and cleanly decorated with wooden pannelling on the walls, and artistic pieces of work to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The view outside where we were as well was nice even with Townwall Street outside as we could see the seafront.
  All the food was freshly prepared with fresh vegetables and an asortment of meat for the carvery - beef, turkey and pork as well as a vegetarian tart option that my mum really enjoyed. The chef was also really helpful in helping us dish up our food and allowing us time to choose what we wanted and try new options.
  The whole place is welcoming, friendly and has a warm atmosphere. You do not feel rushed and are allowed to relax and enjoy the food cooked on the premises and just have a nice time in a very nice setting.
  Even though the outside is unappealing, the inside is welcoming and friendly, the staff are the same and extremely helpful and the food enjoyable.
  I recommend Christo's at the County Hotel to anyone and give it 10/10 as we also very much hope to go down there again. Todays menu of a starter (we had soup), carvery (turkey/beef/pork or vegetarian option) and a desert (strawberry cheesecake/chocolate gateau or lemon merangue) plus tea/coffee with chocolates at the end cost £12 each and I very much recommend you all look for the deals as the place is really nice.

  The reason The Arlington wasn't on the list was that they had closed down and the restaurant had been empty for at least six months to my knowledge, I hope the meal in December was as good as previous. Thanks for the info I will contact them for their opening times etc.7 February 2010   10:46

  Didn't see it mentioned on your list but me and the wife went to The Arlington along Snargate street the other night, had a great meal and great service, although it was a quiet night with only 2 other guests it was a really enjoyable evening.
  
  And before you ask, we have booked a night in December, we are both having the Festive menu
