Remembrance Sunday.

12 November 2007

Taken from the back of the solemn and reflective crowd, this picture shows the Rev David Ridley conducting the service from his lofty position. He was excellent too, as the service captured everyone's interest right to the back of the crowd. Sometimes it is easy to feel uninvolved at the back of such a crowd but not this time, as the whole event was very moving indeed. A very well done to both David Ridley and to those who organise this event so well.

Lovely and rather splendid picture here of our current Mayor, the ever genial Bob Markham, and of course the ever picturesque Jan Tranter, who was Mayor just last year. This picture was taken outside St Mary's Church as both had just taken the salute from the parade of veterans, who had just passed by in fine style. Earlier the duo had each laid a wreath during the ceremony at the War Memorial outside the Town Council offices

Looking impeccable is Town Clerk, Mike Webb, the former Town Centre Manager, photographed outside St Mary's Church...while the shot on the right shows Town Sergeant Bryan Walker in full throated cry. This picture of Bryan is by Karol Steele.

This picture on the left is also from the camera of Karol Steele and shows a body of veterans about to lay wreaths during the moving ceremony. In the picture on the right are from the left Bryan Walker, the Town Sergeant, in the centre the very proud Leane Edwards, the Mayor's Cadet, then of course our very own Mayor Bob Markham.

The group of dignataries making their way from the earlier Ceremony to eventually take up position for the proud musical salute at St Mary's Church.

All pictures by PaulB save for the two by Karol Steele as mentioned above.
