EXtra- Page 10. Kids Firework Party / Linda Gray at The Marlowe.

2 November 2007

Two new Firework pictures added below.
This was intended as a Kids Firework Party with wall to wall teens and younger, but they let a few of us 'ancients' in. There was no intention of photographing the evening as it was just a small private party, fireworks in the back garden kind of thing, but Kay Wyld took the pictures shown here so I thought at this juncture I may as well go for it and put a few up. Not too many kids on show though as I see the pictures of the kids didnt come out..oooh spooky!

What's this?...another picture of me and the ex-Mayor of all Dover. Yes it's true and Jan is really enjoying her sparkler moment as you can see..people will talk so they will!! Clearly my sparkler has sadly just gone out. But at the same time a rocket has whooshed off behind me so..wow!!

I cant remember what was in my other hand..sparkler or glass of wine?? That's a hard one.

Ah, there be the answer...a glass of wine, as daughter BB joins me for this picture. I know, too many pictures of yours truly but they were the only good ones!! Thats my story and Im sticking to it! My sparkler is majestic in this picture and Briony's is too..sparkling away like mad they are, as Briony models my jacket to keep off the winter chill.

More copy to follow shortly.

And here we are. The picture on the left shows the Incredible Hulk trying to bite the living daylights out of ColetteB's jugular. Being ravished she was..I'm all for a bit of ravishing on occasion, and here the occasion called for it! That's long lost friend Kay Wyld in the picture on the right, who turned up from the distant past and enjoyed it all. That's the only picture Kay didnt take.

Oooh scary!! the Bassett family from Hythe came and really looked the part for Halloween. This picture is a bit soft but shows the outfits and makeup. Left to right, Catwoman Mary, Devilish Imp Richard, Red Cheeky Ladybird Rachel, and Supercool Laura. On the right we have some of the superdressed kids..that's skeleton Jacob Ransley in the foreground and Joshua Warrilow in the background.

BrionyBoland in close harmony with that incredible scary green man hulk again, but BB isn't too scared by the looks of it. All are clearly enjoying the fireworks, the fun, and the frolics. The pic on the right shows floppy eared cuddly bunny Saskia in fond embrace with Alex Williams (yes of Barry and Alison fame).

All pictures by Kay Wyld

Linda Gray at The Marlowe. Yes thats right...its Sue Ellen herself and she is coming to a theatre near you very soon. Many of us remember the heady days of Dallas when it blitzed all before it on TV, not only here in the UK but all around the World. One of its great stars was Linda Gray, who starred as Sue Ellen, the unfortunate wife of dastardly conniver JR Ewing, who was played by Larry Hagman. They were quite a duo and will live on in the TV memory forever. Now Linda is coming to The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Playing alongside one of the UK's brightest stars Suranne Jones who was seen in a number of hit TV productions this year. I will print the full Press Release below.

Dallas, Marlowe and the West End.

HOLLYWOOD star Linda Gray – better known as Sue Ellen from the cult tv series Dallas – is in the comedy drama Terms of Endearment at the Marlowe later this month.

This is a new play based on the novel and five-times Oscar-winning film, and explores the tumultuous relationship between Aurora Greenway (Linda), devoted but opinionated mother, and her often pregnant and always headstrong daughter, Emma, played by Suranne Jones.

As Aurora struggles to impose order on her wayward daughter’s chaotic life she finds her own taking an unexpectedly thrilling turn: she falls in love for the first time in her life. Alas, Garrett, played by John Bowe, seems to be as much a cad as her daughter’s husband and only when tragedy strikes the family is he revealed as a man with a heart of gold.

This endearing story is a perfect blend of laugh-out-loud comedy and heart-rending drama and comes to the Marlowe prior to the West End.

Golden Globe winner Linda won international fame and critical acclaim for her portrayal of Sue Ellen. She most recently starred as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate both in the West End and on Broadway. Suranne is probably best known for her role of Karen McDonald in Coronation Street and she most recently appeared in the West End in A Few Good Men opposite Rob Lowe. John’s work includes seasons with the RSC, and numerous TV drama roles including George Marlow in the first Prime Suspect serial. The cast also includes Robert Fitch and Katherine Heath.

Terms of Endearment is at the Marlowe at 7.30pm from Monday, November 19 to Saturday, November 24. There are 2.30pm matinees on the Thursday and Saturday. The show will be sign interpreted at 7.30pm on the Thursday and there will be an audio described performance at 2.30pm on the Saturday.
Tickets are priced from £12.50 to £23.50 (concessions available) and are available from the box office on 01227 787787 or online at www.marlowetheare.com.
